Bupa 'Big Walk' for Barnabus, June 2011
The 'Big Walk' took place in June from Bupa's offices in Salford Quays; it was part of a worldwide Bupa Global challenge to encourage healthy exercise coupled with supporting charitable work in the local community.
Approx 550 employees took part in the 'Big Walk', there was a lot of excitement as groups set off throughout the day to visit us and one other locally supported charity. Employees walked 6 miles along the Manchester ship canal to visit our Beacon drop-in centre; they enjoyed a short tour and an opportunity to hear about our work. The groups also brought donations with them; medical supplies, clothing, toiletries and food items.
As the day drew to a close, a celebration was held with Staff at the Bupa Headquarters in the Quays and Peter was presented with a cheque by the Mayor and Mayoress of Salford on behalf of Bupa for an incredibly generous £2,500. Additional donations also came in from fundraising initiatives on the day and also donations from staff and supporting companies. Click on the link to view the Salford online interview
We are so thankful for Bupa's support, compassion, energy and commitment for our work and are proud to be one of their supported charities for 2011.
