New “Domestic Bliss” sessions at our Beacon Drop-in - September 2011

Domestic Bliss is a new weekly cookery and budgeting class, it started a few months ago and has become really popular with a group of men and women, who are now coming regularly to each session. The aim of the class is to help everyone discover that it's possible to create tasty, nutritional meals even on a low budget. The group can learn a variety of basic but important cooking skills and have the opportunity to prepare and cook meals; they also learn how to budget through the week or month for food and household bills.

Another valuable aspect of this class is that everyone can share a meal and sit down together, it's the closest many of our men and women come to having a family meal. The class is now inspiring the group to plan and think up menu's of their own and they have already been out together to buy ingredients to make an affordable three course meal, to cook and enjoy together.
