bake & TAKE partners with Barnabus to fight food poverty
To coincide with Poverty & Homelessness Action Week (25 Jan – 2 Feb 2014), bake & TAKE has forged a partnership with Barnabus, with the aim of fighting food poverty.
bake & TAKE, a new Continental deli-style bakery, recently opened its flagship store on Piccadilly Approach. With Barnabus located just around the corner on Bloom Street, the homeless charity was a natural choice for bake & TAKE’s daily donations of fresh food.
From sandwiches and soup to pizza and pastries, bake & TAKE has pledged to give boxes of produce to Barnabus indefinitely, providing much needed food for its Drop In Centre, which is open five days a week, Monday to Friday, with morning and evening sessions.
Robin Page, UK Master Franchise Owner at bake & TAKE, says: “We are honoured to have formed a partnership with Barnabus, a magnificent charity in Manchester. Passionate about the city and its people, Barnabus is dedicated to serving those living on the street or in a vulnerable position.”
“The perfect time to announce the partnership is during Poverty & Homelessness Action Week, showing our dedication to this national campaign.”
“Committed to fighting food poverty in Manchester, an issue that affects individuals and families who regularly struggle to afford food, we are determined to help those in need and hope that our daily donation will play a small yet significant part towards this most worthwhile cause.”
Annette Hewitson from Barnabus, comments: “When bake & TAKE approached Barnabus offering to provide fresh food on a daily basis, their donation was received with open arms by the charity. With hundreds of homeless and vulnerable people visiting our Drop in Centre each week, this partnership will ensure that we can always provide food for those who need it most.
“It is wonderful to see a new business give something back to the local community and what better time to launch the partnership. We are thrilled to be working with such a proactive company.”
The bake & TAKE store is located at Unit 3, Gateway House, Piccadilly Approach, Manchester – just outside the main entrance to Piccadilly Train Station. For further information on bake & TAKE, please call 0161 714 4510 or visit www.bakeandtake.co.uk.
